K-Rod Jerseys Discounted – A Possible Sign?

Thanks to MetsMom for sending this picture over.  Spotted at the Mets Clubhouse Store in Roosevelt Field, K-Rod’s authentic jerseys have been marked down from $239.99 to only $99.99

It looks like it’s the 2009 white pinstripe version (though I don’t see the CitiField patch).  Still that is a huge drop in price coming on the heels of this week’s incident.  Could it be a sign that K-Rod may not be a Met much longer?  Or is it just that nobody wants to buy his jersey anymore.

UPDATE – Thanks to eagle eyed readers this has been identified as most likely a 2009 replica.  Steve points out  “The way you can tell is because of the lack of MLB “batter” logo at neck, the single layer of twill (printed in 3-colors and with a white outline) and straight instead of “zig-zag” pinstripes).”

  1. The K-Rod jersey in the foreground is a replica jersey. The way you can tell is because of the lack of MLB “batter” logo at neck, the single layer of twill (printed in 3-colors and with a white outline) and straight instead of “zig-zag” pinstripes. $99.99 is a normal price for customized and player replicas, so someone may have just stuck that on the rack as a joke. I do see some other jerseys on the rack, the skyline patch is on one of the snow-white alternates – so that’s probably authentic, and I can see an authentic hang tag w/MLB player association hang tag further up as well. So my guess is its on the rack by accident or as a joke.

    1. Very good observations Steve – thanks for clarifying. I’ll give myself a ticket for not noticing those things.
