Wait…really? Why would Bobby AND Wally AND Omar be there? Did I miss the massive reports of this? “Greenwich Time” has this and nobody else??

Scene … Stamford resident and ESPN analyst Bobby Valentine was seen having dinner with New York Mets owner and Greenwich resident Jeff Wilpon, Mets General Manager Omar Minaya and Mets minor league manager and former Met Wally Backman at Quattro Pazzi in Stamford on Sept. 23.

Hey you know that soapbox I was on this morning?
I published this at 9:52. Now I’m no Mike Wallace all I did was type “Mets” into google and this showed up. Maybe everyone else did too right around then. But man a lot of people were doing the same thing shortly afterr I posted it, and the post fed my twitter. It’s very easy to mention where you see things Metsosphere. This story is everywhere now. I guess everyone is working on their blog over bagels today…and I look forward to the exclusives in the papers tomorrow.
…
Another update: MetsBlog is reporting that team reps say this meeting never happened.
See fellow bloggers how easy it was for me to say where I read something?
Omar becomes Executive Vice President of Baseball Ops…Bobby V becomes General Manager…and Wally becomes Manager.
I had a dream last night…not making this up…I was watching a Met game and Tom Seaver was in the dugout clowning around with the players…Gary Cohen then announces him as the new Mets GM..later in the dream, somehow, I am touring back rooms at Citifield with Tom and his secretary…he is complaining about things in the stadium…I tell him to call the contractor up and they will come to fix it…then I told him he should get out of the contract with Citi and name the stadium after Gil Hodges…he loved it and joked that I was the new VP of stadium ops. I woke up, but I was about to tell him to drop the black….he would have probably agreed.
Been saying all along that Valentine as GM and Backman as manager wouldn’t be a bad way to go.
It is intriguing idea
What about Randolph as GM, Backman for Manager. Minaya moves to scouting/player development.
I like this dream!
Gil Hodges Stadium.
truly an inspired choice/dream. fantastic
