Mets Police Flashback: Jason Bay gets a Rangers jersey

From January 2010…so so bizarre.

To recap, Bay spoke for what seemed like 30 seconds, then Dave Howard said there would be a special presentation…and the Mets, always focused on building their brand, had Rod Gilbert come up and hand him a Rangers jersey to remind him that the Rangers beat the Canucks in 1994.

  1. The only thing I’d say is that in emphasizing the Bklyn Dodgers as much as they have, they really are recognizing their brand, and I think it’s real smart.

There are people from Brooklyn, not only me, for whom this is the only reason to go to Flushing.

  2. They really should have had Mike Bossy come up after Gilbert and present Bay an Islanders jersey. It would only be fair.
