I would embed the David Wright video mentioned below but it is apparently more important to MLB to get pageviews than to honor Jackie, so you’re on your own with that link. Eventually they will get the internet.
Meanwhile, in case you were wondering, all Mets will wear #42 tonight. Traditionally they don’t wear names on the back on 42 Day which as previously discussed makes absolutely no sense and is what started this site.
I maintain that having everyone wear 42 lessens the impact. It was more noticeable in the early going when a few players chose to honor Jackie, rather than everyone. Hypothetically you could have “John Rocker” wearing a 42.
As for the War on Black, I assume road grays, all 42s, NNOB and hybrid caps. We’ll see.
From the press notes:

debut on this day in 1947 with the Brooklyn Dodgers…Major League
Baseball will mark the 64th anniversary of the day baseball’s color
barrier was broken by having all players and on-field personnel wear
#42 today…David Wright was among a group of MLB All-Stars that
recorded a video trubute to Robinson as part of major league
baseball’s launch of IAM42.com, a new digital campaign designed
for fans to make a personal connection to Robinson.
EARLY LEADS: The Mets have scored first in six straight
games…New York is 1-5 in those games…The Mets are 3-5 this

each end of yesterday’s doubleheader, including his first home run
of the year…It is Reyes’ ninth hitting streak of 12 or more games in
his career…The Mets shortstop is tied for second in the majors with
20 hits, trailing only the Cubs’ Starlin Castro, who has 21…Reyes is
also tied for second in the majors with seven multi-hit games this

Completely unrelated, if I were a Nationals Fan this would be my favorite blog. Hell, I’d probably be the guy who started it.
