In a normal circumstance, with a doubleheader on the road, I would assume we’d see the black jersey in one of the two games today if for no other reason than not having time to do laundry.
However, with the first game on FOX, I assume the Mets and Braves will wear their #42s in the first game. I’m also assuming these are gray and not black.
That means the road grays will be nice and clean and are available for the nightcap. I still bet we see the black uniforms in the night game.
…
I’m really interested in how Kevin Kierst (as opposed to Charlie Samuels) affects these things. I’ve been told by the Mets that the starting pitcher picks the uniforms and I believe that…but I think it’s being somehow influenced by the choices.
For example…
Mrs. Mets Police lays out a nice pressed shirt and a black Mets jersey and a blue Mets jersey. I would pick the blue Mets jersey. My choice.

Somebody like Sandy/Dave/Jeff comes over and says, hey it’s a special day – I’d like it if you wear the dress shirt. I wear the dress shirt.
I’m wondering that if Kevin is only laying out blue caps that if any major leaguer is going to be bothered to say “hey Kev, I’d really like to wear the hybrid today. You mind resetting the clubhouse?”
Maybe the starting pitcher chooses the night before?
Something tells me that there’s more to this than the starters decided to have an all-blue homestand.
..
For those of you that follow @metspolice on twitter I’m looking forward to an #imwith42 inside joke today.
