Back in my day we had nice uniforms. We had real stats like average. If a guy went 1 for 3 you knew he was hitting .333 and that was good enough.
Damn kids and your advanced stats and black uniforms…get off my lawn!
I decided to give in and bring advanced stats to Mets Police. So I went to the @FormerDirtDart Sports Bureau and they were able to hook me up with some numbers.
The Mets have an impressive 1.000 HATE (Hybrids As opposed to Tradition Everyday) win percentage at home. However, road HATE is a paltry .375. Their combined HATE is .444
WABU (Wins after Black Uniforms) are currently being crunched. I will share those when I get them.
…
Speaking of uniforms, Paul from Uni Watch emailed me, “I wanted to let you know that my ESPN column this week will be very Mets-centric, and it’s about a subject near and dear to your (and my) heart. Trust me, you’ll dig this one. It’ll run on Thursday.”
Hmmm. Sounds fun!
If your name is Fred check out this great piece about Brooklyn Dodgers caps that ran over the weekend.
Back in my day, we thought the earth was flat and leeches were our #1 medicine! Yay anti-intellectualism!
regarding the ESPN column…oh yeah
paul gave me an advanced preview and lets just say we may have a new PE #1 (public enemy #1)…and it’s not charlie samuels
stay tuned
/also, like walt, i track the mets unis — don’t have my stats here (home) but i am not sure they have any (maybe one) win in the snow whites with blue caps…the BFBS at home is good (i think 1.000), they’re 1-0 in snow whites/hybrids, and i think they’re ~.500 in pins/blue caps
Last win in snow-whites/blue still Aug. 27, 2010
I suggested to Shannon last night, that S&S (stars&stripes)caps can technically be considered hybrids of sorts, which pushes them to .500 at home
