For you kids who enjoy things like OPS+ and uni-trackers, Advanced Uniform Statistics looks beyond what the team is wearing but in what sequence they wear it.
HATE (Hybrids As opposed to Tradition Everyday) tracks cap usage. Of course with the Mets wearing hybrids on the road this statistic carries a road bias. However home HATE bears watching.
WABU (Wins after black uniforms) tracks the Mets performance the day after dressing like a softball team. Originally designed to disparage the black jerseys, the stat let to the shocking discovery of inWABU (inclusive WABU) which is calculated when the Mets wear black after wearing black.
From the @formerdirtdart foundation for advanced uniform statistics:
Uni-METS-rics
UPDATED 11:25 PM, 07 June 2011
HATE: .555 w-pct (10-8) {Hm: .750 (3-1); Rd: .500 w-pct (7-7)};
WABU .625 w-pct (5-3) +3 DIFF;
inWABU .737 w-pct (14-5) +18 DIFF
Shockingly, advanced unimetrics demonstrate the Mets win nearly 74% of their games wearing black after black.
WABU does not apply in tonights game (Game 61) but if they were to wear black tonight and then use inWABU in the final 100 games, the Mets should expect to win approximately 103 to 105 games.
I of course will complain about each of the 101 games.
