The Mets Man Up and Play Better report

I thought I’d take a player by player look at the team to see who has Manned Up and who has Played Better.  When I say “Played Better” I mean is playing better this season.

Dan Murphy – as discussed this morning, Manned Up about his error, has Played Better

Jose Reyes – definitely Played Better. Arguably an MVP season.

Tejada – definitely Played Better

Thole – needs to get with the program.  Man Up and tweet.  Play Better too.

Paulino – has Played Better.

Wright – hard to kill him with the back problem but would like to see him Play Better

Ike Davis – I miss this guy.  Incomplete.

Dillon Gee – totally Manned Up and Played Better.

RA Dickey – Mans up by playing one one foot.  Has Played Better last month

Capuano – I’d say he has Played Better than we have expected

Izzy – totally Manned Up by going out there seemingly every day.

Niese – has been playing fairly well..slightly better.

Santana – you know he’s gonna Man Up and pitch well when he gets back.

Bullpen Guys I didn’t mention – nothing excites me

K-Rod – he who helped create the phrase.  Manned Up, keeps quiet, pitched pretty well…good job.

Mike Pelfrey – dude you are supposed to be the ace.  Man Up and Play Better

Turner – definitely Played Better

Jason Bay – can’t say he hasn’t Manned Up.  He isn’t ducking criticism.  Does need to Play Better

Beltran – definitely Played Better

Duda – just got here but so far Played Better

Hairston & Harris – they need to Play Better

Pagan – has Played Better

Pridie – has Played Better

Overall, pretty impressive.  When you look at some of the names playing (aka Buffalo Bisons) you need to take a step back and applaud this bunch.  Imagine if the defacto ace was pitching like one, if the big bat in LF did anything, or if Ike and Wright handed in full seasons.  Add on some Santana…there might just be something here in 2012.
