Last night I was on a blogger’s conference call with Paul DePodesta. I’m the dopey blogger who doesn’t understand “advanced” stats (gimme Wins, ERA, Avg., HR’s and RBI’s and I will tell you who is good thank you) so I didn’t even want to go there.
So I asked a question about home-life. Michael Baron of Mets Blog (the guys with the Donuts ads grrrrr) always transcribes the calls (which is awesome because that’s tedious work) and has yet to beat me up for excerpting the part about me so…
Shannon Shark, MetsPolice: Your home life – is there a man cave? A big screen? How do you deal with your family and having to say “I have to watch this game?”
Paul DePodesta: The reality is Im on the road a lot and when I am home, I want to be a good father and husband. I have four kids and I want to be able to spend time with them. I manage to get work done here and there and I definitely take advantage of late night when everyone is asleep. I wish I had a man cave – I don’t. Maybe someday.
I was hoping to hear he had some kick-Aase super deluxe TV hookup. But I totally get the “being daddy” thing when actually home. Seemed like a cool guy on the call.
