Expos vs Mets de New-York, 1969 (video!)

Um, awesomeness follows.

Mike has been hooking me up with most of the good stuff lately…and today he has gold..well let him tell you…

Shannon you might want to see this clip for yourself..maybe to even post it..its from Montreal 1969 and its in french..it shows opening day and first ever game of the Montreal expos..as we all know there first game was played at Shea. it’s also opening day at Shea 1969 so we see bill Shea presenting his good luck on the season flowers and speech which he did until his death. we also see Gil and of course Shea..

I have only recently started to “get” Gil (hey, some things are before even MY time)..cool to see him here.

  1. Another great Met tradition…don’t know if they still do it.

We know they scrapped Banner Day, Old-Timers Day, the little NY on the logo, the proper Mets script and the team colors.

Gil is wearing a beautiful uniform…no black…proper script (without the falling M). He is wearing the MLB 100th Anniversary sleeve patch that was worn in 1969 instead of the team logo patch…that is until the World Series, when the logo patch returned and the MLB patch moved to the right sleeve. What they probably did was get brand new home unis to wear in the Series and keep for 1970 (with MLB patch removed). They did not do this on the road unis.
