I know you kids like your “advanced” statistics. So here ya go. This article is from 24 hours ago prior to last night’s game.
For the last 30 days, Daniel Murphy is hitting .373/.400/.573 for an OPS of 973. NINE-SEVENTY-THREE. Think that’s just a hot month? It’s not. In the last 60 days, Murphy has hit .358/.383/.491 for an OPS of 873. He hit .349 that month.
..
This isn’t a good two week stretch — this is an enormous sample. In his last 240 at bats, Daniel Murphy has hit like Wade Boggs in his prime. Want to know what the full season pace is for that kind of performance?
232 hits, 56 doubles, 93 RBI, 54 strikeouts, .363/.390/.504
Totally agree he should be at 2nd the rest of the season with an eye on next season and beyond.
I am right from the beginning a big fan of the Murph. But this time aound there seems to be other hot bats on the Mets . This is my view of it.
The team is now finally ready to go all the way. They waited along time that almost all of their key players, except Ike, and the ace are active (Wait until next year).
But what makes it so surprising is that Turner, Duda, along with that very hot Murphy guy, are special. Nice to see Bay starting to move along with Jose and Wright. Yet if the hitters do not turn it around, this gives the club one of the best offensives in the game. Oh, and our 2nd catcher is not doing so bad either, in fact how about they are all doing pretty good. And pretty good enough to catch up to the WC.
I am going to throw this in there, how about that Duda, gets so good hitting and playing ok enough at RF that we may not miss Beltran? Not logical, I know but then again, just maybe, because his minor records do show that he not only has the power, but also the average.
