1. Ya got me stumped. I thought maybe it was after Casey broke his hip and retired, but that wasn’t until ’65.

2. It looks like a Casey banner tied to a standard button…at that time the Mets embraced a lovable loser image…I can see the word lovable there…that could explain it.

3. 74th birthday…..last year!

4. Mr. Met was the Mets’ raincheck avatar, and on the rainchecks, Mr. Met always had a tear for what it represented: no game today.

   And somebody probably screwed up and forgot to use the happy Mr. Met.

   1. You are correct about there being a Rain Check Mr. Met…but that’s not the same picture on the button.

      The word Lovable is the clue…there must have been a button for the Lovable Loser Mets and they slapped a Casey Banner on it.
