One Reply to “Video: Hernandez and Carter’s final at bats for Mets at Shea”

  1. A few thoughts:

    1. Nice work, Larry. This is quite a collection.

    2. Keith Hernandez was a little on the heavy side by 1989. Perhaps it’s the pullover jerseys, or the fact that everyone is wearing layers bulkier than present day apparel, but he looks a little thicker than he appears in the other Mets archival footage. (Most of which is from 1986).

    3. I had forgotten that Gary Carter had ripped a double in his final Shea at bat. It was a nice moment.

    4. Way to make Carter’s moment about you, Jefferies! That said, it’s hard to see a present day member of the tip-toe-into-home-plate Mets charging the mound.
