Since I have acquired Precinct 41, I realized I do not have that much Mets “stuff” for it’s walls. So, today(Sunday 9/25) I decided that I was going to purchase some game used “stuff” while I was at the game. I walked down to the Amazing Memorabilia kiosk down on field level to see what I could find for myself. The 2 game used bases for $400 bucks picqued my interest. The bases usually run for $250 a piece.
I went up to the very helpful guys working the kiosk and asked if they had any bases from the last year at Shea and from the first year at CitiField left. They were unsure what the stock was but both were pretty low. They called down to the main team store in the Rotunda where the person down there said they had three left from 2008. One of them had an autograph on it. It was Dan Murphy signed second base. I asked the price of that and they said it was part of the 2 for $400 base deal. Of course I said,”I WILL TAKE IT.” The other base I got in the deal was a third base from 2009.
Each base comes with a hologram with an authentication number you can look up on the MLB website.
I looked it up and this is the info about the base:
Its from the June 28,2008
NY Yankees @ NY Mets, Innings 4-6
Signed April 28,2009
The info on this one is: Marlins @Mets
April 29,2009
3rd base from innings 1-3
I was pretty shocked to see I got a base from a game the Mets played against the Yankees.I am so stoked that I got these, although when Shannon comes over to hang I might have to keep an eye on him if he gets too close to them.
Nice deal. You’ll have to do another post to show off how you display them.
Paul- I’m trying to figure that out..Both have pegs on them. I was told I could remove the pegs pretty easily but I have no idea if that effects the value at all. If I leave the pegs on them, there are cases that go for $175 -$235 that I can get that would hold the whole complete base.
You could always poke holes in your walls, and mount them using the pegs.
Honestly, that has crossed my mind too
I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
