You’re gonna wanna read this. Also remember baseball is a business.
Sandy Alderson: Considering where we are now with respect to revenues, in order for us to approach a break-even proposition, we have to keep our payroll at a lower range than it has been in the last few years. Now, as the team performs better and the revenues increase, there will be the opportunity to increase payroll. So, where we are now is at a point of trying to bring our expenses (including most importantly payroll) to be in line with our revenue; and so we’re trying to approach it on a more balanced basis.

Look I honestly believe Met Fans are smart. In fact I think we are really astute.
I believe the Mets are going to cut payroll as much as they can, sign as few players for cheap dollars as possible and forget about next year.
If you are going to REBUILD just say so. Met fans understand that! Lord knows we have been doing it forever.I even think fans would come out and watch a young Mets/Bison team.
Just don’t B.S. us like lastt year and say we will be trying to be competitive and trade away at the deadline.
We already know we are going to suck next year! Does it matter if we finish 4th or last? Does it matter if we win 77 games or 67 games?
Just tell it like it is!…”Just don’t spit in my face and teell me it is raining outside!”
