Sheesh, we’ve been so serious around here lately, let’s lighten the mood.
Terence has come up with a new game called What’s Wrong With This Mets Jersey? I think we could have fun with this. First up…
What Mets fans talk about when not talking about the actual games.

Wow, easy. The 25th Anniversary patch was only worn in ’86, and the Mets didn’t have “New York” road jerseys in ’86. That style road jersey was worn during ’88-’90, and the Mets didn’t wear any sleeve patches during that period.
Boo. I missed it by 51 minutes. Teach me to sleep in. Good job, Walter.
Without looking at the comments already posted…
Number on front and 1986 25th-Anniversary patch on left sleeve. Block “NEW YORK” used on road jerseys 1988-92 (pullovers 1988-90, button-down 1991-92); no number on front. Patch used only in 1986.
That said, this jersey looks better with number on front and sleeve patch than it ever did without.
maybe it’s just me, but even disregarding the patch, something doesn’t look right with that jersey. maybe the block lettering is off, or the color isn’t quite right (i don’t remember a white outline on the blue/orange piping).
Sorry some of you were stuck in moderation on this one. Sometimes I gotta pay the bills and actually do work and not blog.
Pre-’88 jerseys also didn’t have the white outline.
You guys nailed it…Here is what they actually wore
