Workplace Confidential – The Met — New York Magazine

Hmm, in today’s must-read…seems NY Mag has something called Workplace Confidential (maybe you all are familiar with it, I am not) and this is attributed to “the Met who blames everything on the Wilpons.”

Look at what happened to Mookie Wilson: He just got fired. Mookie went to the wall for the organization, but they still canned him. Look at Ken Oberkfell. Guy puts in twelve years with the organization; next thing you know, he’s been fired. No explanation. Those are the little things that tell you what direction a team is going in. People around the game hear about this stuff. They talk about it: “What’s happening to the Mets?” It depresses the hell out of me because I don’t think it’s going to improve until 2014 at the earliest. It’s going to be hard to ask the fans to sit through two brutal seasons, even though there’s some talent coming through the system.

Is this written by a Mets player???

“Everyone in the division has at least one big weapon that we don’t have.”

“we.”

Dunno.  Could be another fun day in Flushing…let’s see how this plays out.

  1. Agreed!….That is exactly right. This is going to be an awful season to sit through! The real problem is that the other teams all improved themselves in the NL East and we got worse!

If you take a look at Aprils schedule, it is really tough! There is a good chance that the Mets could be “Out of it” and comfortably in the basement by Mid-May!

These next two years we are just waiting out bad contracts and hopinhg that the farm system will bring us talent to compete in 2014!

I would suggest Met fans come down to Spring Training as there will only be:

    “Meaningful baseball In March”
