PORT ST. LUCIE — Fans hoping to get good seats to see the New York Mets play the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers or World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals this spring should have Saturday, Jan. 14 circled on their calendars.
That’s the first day individual game tickets can be purchased at Digital Domain Park. (and online – Shannon.)
The ticket office will open at 10 a.m.
“We expect to probably have over 1,000 people buy tickets,” said Stephen Fox, the St. Lucie Mets’ manager of tickets and merchandise. “It’s pretty much because of the Yankees. Last year it was the Red Sox. We don’t have them this year, but the Yankees haven’t been here in like 15 years.
Fox said the tickets expected to be most in demand are the Yankees (April 3), Tigers (March 16 and April 1) and the Cardinals, which play three games in Port St. Lucie. Additional home opponents include the Miami Marlins, Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves.

The Mets really put on a good time for this. It has been a annual meeting place for me and a couple of friends to go to. It kind of an unofficial start to the season.
They have live music and kind of a street fair set up on the outside of the stadium. They usually let you in the stadium as they hold auditions for the national anthem singing, so I will be able to report back on the stadium renovations.
Yeah I know you can order tickets on the internet also, but there is something about going down to the stadium, chatting with other Met fans and getting ready for a new year!
I know I have been a “Disgruntled Met Fan” this winter, so I am hoping that this snaps me out of the winter blues and renews my hope for a new season.
Plus a few Bloody Mary’s and a great tailgate party are always good for the moral.
I will report back with an accurate head count and send up some pics of the event!
