Hey Shannon,
This is Danny Abriano (D_Abriano on twitter). 28 year old Mets fan. Moved into my current place last year. With 4 bedrooms, decided to make one a Mets room. Painted it myself, set it up meticulously, and I’m pumped with how it came out. Pics attached (I put brief descriptions as well).
Mets1 – ’86 WS Champs banner, view of room
Mets2 – Ron Darling’s cleats from 1986
Mets3 – Reyes, Wright, Piazza autographs…2 foul balls I caught (one at Shea, one at Camden vs Mets)
Mets4 – Mini Shea replicas (’64 and ’08), Ebbets replica, autographs (Seaver, Kiner, Hernandez, Carter, every ’82 Met, Viola, Cone and Darling, Johan, Enos Slaughter, Whitey Ford, Gaylord Perry, Steve Carlton, Warren Spahn, various ’86 Mets, Jon Niese, Billy Wagner, etc.
Mets5 – Bobbleheads, including authentic one from early 60’s (top shelf in center)
Mets6 – Collage I put together from last game at Shea. There’s two in there that are awesome. After Beltran’s HR, I took a pick that says “make shea shake” on the diamond vision. The next pic is blurry because I snapped it while the upper deck was shaking.
Mets7 – View of room
Mets9 – Entry
Mets10 – Cleon Jones autographed last out of ’69 WS
Mets11 – Various stuff
Mets 12 – Back-story here. My Grandfather was the most loyal person I ever knew, and he was the biggest Mets fan in the World. He was a Dodgers fan til ’57, then adopted the Mets in ’62. My Grandmother used to tell him that if the roof collapsed, he’d still be there watching the game. He’s where I got my Mets loyalty from. This picture is actually a collage I put together of 3 (obviously) unused WS tickets (from ’06, ’07, and ’08). On top of them is a note my Grandfather left for my Father after the Mets won Game 1 of the ’99 NLDS describing the outcome (my father fell asleep, my grandfather who was 86 at the time did not). In the top right corner is a picture of my Grandfather playing ball – stationed in Hawaii during WW2 (where he was in the same platoon with Joe DiMaggio). My Grandfather had eternal hope and dedication to the Mets, so I felt the unused tickets from seasons where the Mets broke everyone’s heart was a symbol of never giving up. That although the team may disappoint, we’ll always be there.
Mets 13 – Every Mets yearbook. I’ve been going to Shea since ’86, started buying them at the ballpark around ’88. A few years ago, started collecting the rest. Finally got them all.
There’s an SNY show to be made: Mets Rooms
