Mets’ Jon Rauch keeps it positive on twitter in back and forth with Mets fan

I’m sharing this one not to embarrass Dan, but it was apparently public and I think it’s interesting to see how one of the Mets players engaged with a fan.

I know it’s a little hard to read but click the image to see the discussion.  It’s worth the click to see Jon get a little feisty.  I’d be curious to see what sort of headline the mainstream uses with this. I suspect they won’t use the word positive, which is why I’m not pulling out random inflammatory quotes.  Click the image, read for yourself, and form your own opinion.

Nice job by @the7line catching this one.

The bad news is I imagine this will lead to the Mets reminding their players to be careful on social media. Don’t be surprised if you see a few players laying low. (My speculation, I don’t know anything.)

  1. That’s pretty awesome — go Rauch! The Internet has made it so easy for people to make ridiculous arguments like that. I’d never imagine telling a Major League ballplayer — i.e., someone who’s had a crapload more success at the sport than I have — he doesn’t understand winning. Good for Rauch to let him have it.

  2. I’m all for open debate….there is a very fine line between keeping positive and accepting losing…you don’t need to be an Olympic champion to talk about it. If you did, there would be no press that could question an athlete.
