Banner Day Returning to Mets’ Park – NYTimes.com

As always, beautiful words by Greg Prince.

There was no declaration that Banner Day would be discontinued, nor does it appear that the last of the marchers directed through Shea Stadium’s center-field gate wound up lost in the infamous auto yards across the street and never re-emerged, thus taking Banner Day with them. No, like the regular wearing of Mets pinstriped uniforms with blue Mets caps and the annual celebration of Old-Timers’ Day, Banner Day was simply allowed to flutter away.
