METS TRADE OMAR QUINTANILLA TO BALTIMORE

FLUSHING, N.Y., July 20, 2012 – The New York Mets today announced that they have traded infielder Omar Quintanilla to the Baltimore Orioles for cash considerations.

Quintanilla, 30, hit .257 (18-70) with one home run and four RBI in 29 games with the Mets. He was designated for assignment on July 17. The 5-9, 185-pounder has hit .218 (129-592) with 30 doubles, three home runs and 38 RBI in 256 major league games with Colorado, Texas and New York.

Quintanilla also hit .282 (44-156) with 11 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 27 RBI in 48 games this year with Buffalo (AAA) of the International League.
