Cablevision mocks cute boy in Queens in 1983

Cablevision may have thought this was a cute ad in the 1983 yearbook, but you know what you couldn’t get in Queens in 1983?  Cable.

Yep.  Cable TV didn’t come to Queens until 1987.

YEP that means I listened to half of the 1986 season on the radio.

I could see Shea out my window (for reals) but I couldn’t watch the Mets game.

So screw you Cablevision 1983 and your crappy Sportschannel that I can’t even get in Queens.

Do you hear me? You COULDN’T GET CABLE TV IN THE OUTER BOROUGHS AND THEY PUT 60 METS GAMES ON CABLE.  THERE WAS NO CABLE IN QUEENS!!!!!

Man, Mets Police ’83 would have been friggin’ awesome.

By the way, are any other blogs talking about Seaver’s return for three days like I am?

  1. MetsPolice was incensed when osh41, who lived in Fresh Meadow/Bayside Queens) got cable before he did.
