Meager crowd at Citi last night, especially by end. But one Met was very surprised at degree of anger vented toward players by own fans.

What Mets fans talk about when not talking about the actual games.

??????? Which player is it and how fast can he be released? Hey guy, you’re on a team in the top 5 in average ticket price in the most expensive area to live in the western hemisphere. People pay to see you – you aren’t doing a good job of winning games.
Also – I think the Ike ‘working it out tour’ should be moved out to Las Vegas AAA for a 15–20 game stretch. Enough is enough.
Oooh, I am SO with you, osh41. Enough pampering Ike; tell Kirk he’s got a new roommate. My guess is David Wright or John Buck. Tough shit. I was thinking how far back we got the first “be patient, things will get better speech.” I think it was around the time Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel got fired — but it may have been way before that. Either way, it’s been about 5 years now, enough time for the farm system to have “ripened” if it were as rich as they’ve lead us to believe. In the meantime, the only thrills we get for our money (either at Citi Field or paying through my cable bill) is once every five days when our hearts get all aflutter with thoughts of no-hitter or perfect game running through our heads, only to be smacked right back in reality when we realize these gems aren’t backed up by decent run support (not even ONE LOUSY RUN for Matt on Tuesday?!? C’mon, guys!). So it’s another no-decision for our ace and a 50/50 chance the bullpen and the bats will come through for an eventual win. I love my team, but I’m tired of the losing. I really believed better days were ahead and I feel like I’ve been bamboozled big time. Even the Wilpons love the Mets as much as they claim they do, they’ll stop everyone’s heartache and sell the team so someone else not so ill-advised and tight with the pursestrings will give Mets fans the quality team it deserves to root for. And if the axe gets swung — either during the season or after — it’s Sandy’s head that’s got to roll. Other than trading lazy Beltran for Zack Wheeler, he’s done nothing but joke about things Mets fans don’t find one bit funny. He doesn’t share our passion and he’s gotta be the one to go.
Wright? I doubt it. He’s been here awhile, I doubt he’d be surprised about the anger and obnoxiousness of the fans. He’s experienced it for years. This sounds like a quote from a new guy. Either way I don’t see what the big deal is. Players have a right to be surprised.
It should be “IF the Wilpons love the Mets as much…”
Look at these “lack of crowd” shots, we certainly are sending a message to these mouth-breathing morons.
