In an interview on ESPN Radio this week, Costas said, “Of all the faux controversies, this is among the dumbest I’ve ever seen or heard.”

It was harsh, because the team had a lot of reason to celebrate that win, but it was a joke. I agree with Costas; the reaction is overboard.
