Stop.

Certain teams trying too hard.

I’m going to write more about this (probably tomorrow) but I am thinking about giving up my 15 game plan. Between the constant promotions that benefit late-comers, the endless promotions bombing my inbox, and the reality that Citi Field really isn’t all that much fun…maybe I don’t need a 15.

  1. As a 15-game plan-holder since 1999 (of course, from 1999-2008 it was known as the Saturday plan), I’d be hesitant to scrap it. There’s something about Saturdays at the ballpark that just feels nice. But I am starting to really get annoyed by those promotions that benefit latecomers, which is a perfect way to describe it. The recent “strikeout=percentage off” promotion they had was creative, and a fun way to get people to buy tickets, but every time it was mentioned I was reminded that I’ve had tickets for the 8/24 game for months, bought them before the season and paid full-price. Now somebody’s going to swoop in and get them for 40 percent less? It just doesn’t seem right. I don’t know what would be the best way to make it up to long-standing ticket holders (maybe 40 percent off a future Mets game? And an appealing game too, not a Wednesday in September or Tuesday in April), but I think they should try to figure something out.
