Uh oh, the Pedro Beato Fan Club has spoken out against The Narrative. Expect lots of Marge Face. Good article which also gets into Mr. Young, Jr. and Mr. Byrd aka The Improved Outfield.
The fans, for the most part, understand that this team was never supposed to be a championship team. We know that the majority of these players are only here because they were the cheapest options available. And the Mets insult the intelligence of their fan base when they insist that this team “has potential” or that they “see a lot of upside” or that this team is going anywhere at all, when it will be dismantled the moment the slightest opportunity presents itself.
Sure, Lagares can field. He’s among elite outfielders in the National League at this point. But can you honestly tell me that you would rather have Lagares than Shin Soo Choo, Jacoby Ellsbury, or Carlos Beltran? No. Of course not! Anyone with the slightest bit of common sense would bring in any of those outfielders, for a reasonable amount of years, in a heartbeat, and the Mets, if rumors are true, can make a serious push to bring in a big time outfielder this offseason.
