Mets/WOR Radio plan to speak with Cliff Floyd about some kind of role. Howie Rose almost slam dunk to return. Less clarity with Josh Lewin.

So from what I understand the radio station can pick the announcers. That being said. I imagine that if the Mets wanted to hire “Al Capone” then the surely the Mets would suggest that WOR choose differently.
Nothing against Cliff, but Howie/Josh are a great team, and not every pairing is great. This one works. Lock it up for ten years. If you want to let Cliff fill in, sure, why not. But don’t mess with perfection.
WOR doesn’t need to put their own stamp on the games. Mets fans will come to the games. People who don’t like the Mets won’t listen no matter who you put in the booth. However, if you make the booth annoying it’s fairly easy to listen to the road-broadcast on that new device called an iPhone.
Actually, I’m more concerned about Howie “almost a slam dunk to return.” Almost???? When the heck did that happen? I thought it was definite! Josh is great, but I can’t imagine Mets next year without Howie.
Howie Rose is this generation’s Bob Murphy.
WOR 710 will be the most schizoid station in New York. Come for the old man hate radio, bring your kiddies and your wife to the Mets. Howie reading Limbaugh and Hannity promos = instant classic.
