Great stuff here. He LIVES THERE in a house built by his father and he wants to stay.
Ardizzone remains optimistic about his future, saying that he is here to stay. At one point, the lone resident of Willets Point remembered a similar struggle that happened in Queens during the 1970s with Elmhurst resident Mary Sendek. Like Ardizzone, she lived alone in the last standing house in the area when developers who were building Macy’s department store approached her. Sendek refused to sell saying that she would remain to her dying day.
And that is exactly what she did, and Ardizzone wants to follow in her footsteps.
