Make of this what you wish: selling my tickets again

mets saturday tickets

Another Saturday looms and I just don’t feel like going to Citi Field tomorrow.  This will be third straight Saturday game I have sold, out of a ten game package, and there’s no chance of me using my tickets on September 13th.

I am not sure what this means, but the lack of an interesting product must be part of the matrix somewhere here.

I did attend a Mets game on Monday in Philly and had one of my favorite days of the summer.  Different Ballpark novelty?  I’m not really in love with Citi Field, and haven’t been since I first walked in.

  1. Shannon, I saw the Friday night game in Philly. Loved the experience and the ballpark. For $53, great seats near third base. For a family of six, it was good enough. I just don’t enjoy CitiField. I don’t know why. Mets winning helped though. Roger

  2. To each his own, I know, but I love Citi Field — and have since April 13, 2009. Yes, there was the initial lack of Mets stuff in the ballpark, but the fans complained, and they listened. Give them credit for that. Objectively-speaking, it’s better than Shea in almost every way (and as a foodie, the offerings here…..well, there’s just no comparison. Especially if you had seats in the Loge or higher). Shea had a coziness to it, I get that — but I wonder how much of that has to do with, that’s where we grew up. My first-ever big league game was at Shea. I went there well over 100 times — including the ’99, ’00 and ’06 postseasons. There hasn’t been a heck of a lot to cheer about at Citi since it first opened. Maybe with some winning baseball under our belts, the place will seem different.

Side note: But no surprise you loved Citizens Bank. That’s probably my favorite non-Citi park. A terrific place to see a game.

Side note 2: How I wish all those TBDs for the Saturday games wound up being 1 or 4 p.m. starts. As a Saturday plan ticket-holder coming down from central CT, those 7 p.m. start times (which means the game ends around 10:30, which means home around 2 a.m.) are brutal.
