After today I am totally convinced this whole MLB Metal Detector thing is some sort of Cover Your Ass Just In Case deal.
Today I attended the game at Citi Field. There was a record crowd.
I did not pass through a metal detector*
(* unless the Mets have some sort of super-stealth metal detector in which case I want the airports to get this kind…but then maybe not because I was able to sneak my keys into the ballpark.)
I was not wanded.
I was patted down.
Personally I was pleased not to be hassled by security theater.
However, I have to wonder about this big threat. If there is such a threat by Scary Metal Something, why did the bad guys not deploy the threat when Citi Field had its biggest crowd?
Why did Those Who Protect Us decide today was a day in which we did not to be protected from Scary Metal Something?
Please please please someone explain this.
You can’t tell me that its because they didn’t want to delay big crowds at the opener because um then whats the point of security?
I really really don’t get it.
I was very happy not to be hassled. As far as I’m concerned go back to 1975, rip my ticket and let us just walk in with our juice boxes and sandwiches rolled up in our jacket sleeves. If the bad guys want to hit Citi Field they will find a way. Today they could have even snuck in some keys like I did!
