The Mets and the Plan Holder (Food for Thought)

66% off of tickets for games through 6/16.

That’s great for getting the casual fan into the ball park. I get it. The Mets need to sell tickets and I am all for them doing that. But, now here’s a big but ( I like big butts and I cannot lie). What about your loyal plan holders? The season ticket/10,20,40 game holders that give the Mets their money in advance of the season? Yes, we get a discount already with the tickets because we bought early, but what about just showing a little “hey, we know you guys are sticking with us” so here is “blank” to help show that we haven’t forgotten you when we do these promotions.

“Blank” could be anything. I think blank being a $10-$15 food voucher per ticket in your plan could be the way to go. It would be super easy to send the voucher into the My Tickets Mets online account to be printed up. This can be alerted to the plan holder by email. “Hey loyal plan holder, thank you for continuing your support of the NY METS by being a plan holder. We have a discounted promotion going into effect for the next few games and we would like to give you a $10 food voucher for each ticket in your plan during these games as a thank you and as for being such a great fan”, or something like that.

It’s really not that hard Mets. Don’t piss off your plan holders just to get some extra fannies in the seats for a game or two. You can do both. You can still get the casual fan in while playing nice with your current plan holders. I personally know Five former plan holders, one of which is Shannon Shark, who won’t buy a plan anymore because they know then will get a cheaper ticket during the season. So instead of having a 10,20,40 game plan holder locked into those games, now the same guy is going to half of that for cheaper tickets.

  1. Hey Media Goon….I’m with you 100%. Just one problem, The Mets don’t give a F— about the partial plan holder. I was a Saturday Plan Holder for 24 years! Remember when $iti Field was ready to open? At first, they had no room for us. It was going to be Season Tickets Only! Only when that didn’t work out were we offered a few take it or leave it plans. Plus, it was more or less first come, first serve. I went from the Loge Sect. 10 Row B by 3rd base and undercover to Promenade Box 430. That was by the left field foul pole. By July, I sold the rest of my tickets on Stub Hub and have not been back since. Until ownership changes (Good Luck There) expect more of the same…

  2. metspolice gave up my plan in 2011. Refuse to give the wilpons my $ 4 many reasons, but this is one of them. they have no respect for fans.

  3. metspolice the mets take away the few perks you use to get as a plan holder. No reason to give them your money up front.
