Hey @mets: you need to do a Doubleday Patch

I want you to rise up, tweet and Facebook the Mets and let them know...

Dear Mets,

My old mentor taught me that perception is reality.

Right now you look like small minded petty idiots.

I never met Nelson Doubleday. Perhaps he was the greatest person who ever lived or maybe he walked around kicking kittens. Maybe you loved him, maybe you couldn’t stand the sight of him.

However, here in 2015, the general public, aka the customers who give you money, would like to see a Doubleday patch. An armband. A small ND on the sleeve. Something.

You guys were doing so much better at this kind of stuff. The uniforms are nice. The museum is great. You throw Banner Day (apparently just for me). You nailed the Kiner and Carter and Frank Cashen tributes.

This one is coming across as small and petty. It saddens me that once again I have to nag you and get everyone all riled up. I really thought we were past all that and that I could just focus on getting you to re-sign Murphy.

And the net effect is that it makes everyone like an unliked ownership even less.  Is that really what you want?  To be unloved?

So fellow readers, I encourage you to Facebook and Tweet the hell out of the @mets until the radio guys do their show-prep for Monday and then this becomes A Thing.

Or Mets, you could just announce when you return home you will be adding two small letters to a sleeve.
