As you likely know, Daniel Murphy is my favorite Mets player, and Murph is forever on the edge of being run out of town.
Once again, I suspect Murph finds himself jobless.
What do I know, but I imagine Uribe takes over as the third baseman. From there, what happens? Flores back to SS, Murph to 2B?
Or, was Murph’s July so so bad that they leave loves at 2B, after all Flores is the future and we all know Murph is gone at the end of the year, and play Tejada at SS?
That’s my guess.
However…Mr. Duda (never turn down $30 million) is increasingly awful. Might Murph start getting playing time at first? And if Murph’s bat heats up at first, what happens?
I know I am off in the deep end, but we’ve seen Murph be on the verge of extinction before, only to find himself starting every day.
Murph sure has cost himself a lot of potential free agent money. He picked the wrong year to stop hitting .290 and to miss playing time.
I still think that the Mets will need a third baseman next year…but this morning I don’t think it will be Murph.
