There is no way the Mets are going to take on a $22 million contract with a few years on it. Do you not pay attention at all to the Mets’ finances? I’m amazed they even got Actual Major Leaguers this past few days, and look how excited the fanbase is about table scraps (although Kelly Johnson is the best player on the Mets somehow).
Stop the Reyes fantasy. He will never play for the Mets again, and that includes Old Timers’ Day because we don’t have those.
The Rockies didn’t take him to keep him. It makes no sense. Move him for a few more prospects and they wind up with a windfall for Tulo. Unfortunately I think youre correct. Early reports (at least) suggest Sandy’s showing as much interest in him as he did when he left for FA. But realistically; who else (in the hunt) are in the market for a SS? I have to think COL did this with the idea of a quick turnaround. I’ve heard PITS; they aren’t taking on $48 mil over 2 yrs either. SD is not compelled; they are dismantling. LAD maybe if they see him as an upgrade over Rollins. NYY? Well it would be a joke too good for God NOT to play on us but Gegorius seems to be cementing himself. I keep hearing about Jose’s rapidly diminished skills (batting right handed, losing a step or two in the field). Didn’t he have a cracked rib earlier this year? I’ve had a BRUISED rib and it took well over 6 months for me to stop feeling it! I’ll give that Jose’s not the vintage of the 2006 form, but how much of that “diminished play” could be attributed to the rib? I guess what I am saying is that I hope the idea is not being completely dimissed. COL is not keeping him. I cannt see a team out there willing to give up a ton for him. Definitely something that should at least be explored; regardless of the “relationship” between GM’s. (BTW; didn’t the COL GM just get that job? Sandy’s pissed him off that bad so quickly?! lol
