I cannot even put into words how awful all this is. MLB announced their Special Events jerseys and caps for 2016 and well….I can’t even….let’s just look at some photos…

Every time I start a sentence I want to invoke the name of a religious figure. Let me just paraphrase my mindset as: Oh man.
Where to begin?
Mother’s Day cap. Stupid. If you’re going to go pink then go all in and do a pink Mets cap. (All these things I am discussing are league wide but I only care about the Mets.) This cap is just useless. Don’t forget if you don’t purchase one you hate your mother and you are pro-breast cancer. Awful.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being hybrid cap, 10 being traditional Mets cap): 2.
Memorial Day Cap. Are you f*&@#g kidding with this? Like ARE YOU F#%*#^!G KIDDING WITH THIS? I can’t imagine a worse cap, but keep reading because you’re about to find out my imagination cannot conjure up the horrible things MLB can. If you don’t buy this you don’t support our troops.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being hybrid cap, 10 being traditional Mets cap): -4. That’s negative 4. Hybrid Caps laugh at this.
Father’s Day Cap: I’m a dad. I don’t need this. You wearing this doesn’t prove your love to me children. Of course if you don’t buy one you probably support prostate cancer or whatever this is supporting. At least it’s sort of got blue in it, just not Mets blue.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being hybrid cap, 10 being traditional Mets cap): 4. It’s wearable even though there isn’t anything Mets about it. It’s arguably a New York Giants cap, no?
Independence Day cap. Could this be more gaudy. If you don’t buy one you support Isis and want us to go back to being a British Colony.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being hybrid cap, 10 being traditional Mets cap): 1. It’s just as bad as the hybrid cap.
Let’s skip one for a second and get Mets All Star Game cap out of the way. It’s no better or worse than a typical fashion cap, but WHY CAN’T THE METS JUST WEAR METS CAPS?
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being hybrid cap, 10 being traditional Mets cap): 5. It’s actually better than Mr. Met caps.
and finally….holy F*#^$g hell the Home Run Derby cap. What the F#@k is this. yeah I get it, 1970’s Padres but WTF??? If any of you buy this I am personally coming over to throw a pie in your face.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being hybrid cap, 10 being traditional Mets cap): -99, which is the Absolute Zero of cap ratings, the scale ceases to function below -99. Even dopey M caps made by the t-shirt guy are only a -98.
……
You thought this post was over? We’re just getting started.
Next, here’s why there will be no reason to buy any Home Run Derby stuff. Not that you needed a reason.
Here’s a look at the Home Run Derby cap & jersey, I call this combo the Ozzie Smith specialhttps://t.co/IaIb6S22tn pic.twitter.com/tNGVepnCsI

Yeah, no. Go fuzz yourself MLB.
But wait there’s more…
Chris Creamer who did a great job assembling this is nuts with this next opinion.
The #MLB Home Run Derby this year gets the 1970s Padres treatment… I love these!

The jerseys might maybe perhaps be almost OK, from a certain point of view, but those caps can go die a horrible death. I wish Jeter were still playing so he could wear one.
Continuing on jerseys, I don’t have great shareable images for everything but you can click some links..
The Mother’s Day Jerseys. Typical Mets road but with pink letters. Unnecessary but looks nice enough.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being a black jersey, 10 being a 1962 road jersey): 7. That’s as high as I can go.
Memorial Day Jerseys. You can support the troops AND like nice jerseys, just not at the same time this year. YUCK. YUCK YUCK.
I do like that they are using 34 and not 33.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being a black jersey, 10 being a 1962 road jersey): 0. Black jerseys look better.
Father’s Day jerseys. At least it’s blue but it’s stupid. Kids save your money for dad and donate $100 to a homeless shelter or a food bank or something meaningful.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being a black jersey, 10 being a 1962 road jersey): 5. At least it’s blue although the wrong blue.
Stars and Stripes jersey. This probably would have looked good as a road jersey believe it or not. But it won’t look as good in Mets home.
Mets Police Scale of 1 to 10 (1 being a black jersey, 10 being a 1962 road jersey): 7.
And that’s all I have for now. I’m sure Paul Uni Watch Lukas will do quite the interesting read in the morning. For now you can read his report on ESPN, although I can’t wait for the looser blog version.
And and and and and be sure to follow all things Chris Creamer, as I obviously cribbed much of this post from his twitter feed.
