FLUSHING, N.Y., July 26, 2016 – The New York Mets will commemorate the Hall of Fame career of legendary catcher Mike Piazza during the upcoming series against the Colorado Rockies at Citi Field July 29-31. The Mets will retire his #31 uniform in a pre-game ceremony on the field Saturday night, July 30 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to be in their seats for the beginning of the festivities. Piazza joins Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver (41; retired in 1988); Manager’s Gil Hodges (14; retired in 1973) and Casey Stengel (37; retired in 1965) as the only uniformed Mets whose numbers have been retired.
