Well friends, after all the recent Piazzapalooza, it is time to realize we have reached The Post Seaver years.
Time marches on, and the future eventually shows up and some of the people and things from the past don’t continue along.
There are now two retired player numbers in Queens, one for The Franchise, and one for Someone Else. And we’ve reached the era of Someone Else.
It’s odd not to have Tom coming by Queens as often as he used to. I hope Tom is well and happy, but we all hear things from time to time suggesting he’s happy but maybe not so well.
It was odd not seeing Tom in Cooperstown, off not seeing Tom in Flushing.
And so we move forward. Generation Piazza is now old enough that their guy is the one with a number on the fence roof.
It’s neither good nor bad, just odd. And time marches on.
