Will Keith Hernandez manage the Mets? No.
There’s so much to like about the idea. Fundies. Former Mets Captain. A ring in Queens (very very rare). Media friendly. Strategy.
However, two things. One, Keith barely likes working when all he has to do is sit next to Gary occasionally. Imagine having to attend all 162 games and get there early and stuff? He’d also need a strong bench coach to do the work-work part of the job.
Second, did you not read my David Wright piece? Everyone loves Keith Hernandez. Why would he piss that all away so Mets Twitter and WFAN can bitch about his lineups and bullpen usage. Too much work, too little money. No way.
But if they could ever convince him to be the interim manager for a week during some lost season, I’d watch.
