SLACKISH REACTION: I was googling Mets and saw Mickey’s name and was like Oh Yeah that happened….
…And I started to worry about Mickey because I don’t think the fan base has any tolerance for losing left.
So Mickey will come in and be handed this 75 win roster and the season will be over by June and then what? Does he get a free pass because Mets fans are understanding? Will people just start claiming to boycott the Wilpons again?
Maybe if 75 wins is what Sandy is going to hand in, well maybe then they should have let Terry hang around?
I dunno. I just woke up feeling like Mickey is set up to fail here. Like he’s the bridge to “Terry Francona” when the 2022 Mets seem close again.
Time will tell.
There are no links. There is no Mets news.
I did find it interesting that on Sunday Twitter I did have some support for the notion that the Mets will be unwatchable should they switch to extreme bullpenning.
I’m reminded of an old SI article about Greg Maddux. Maddux explained he would use the first two times through the lineup to set up the third. There was even a story where Greg said the hitter would think Greg made a mistake, but the pitch was on purpose to induce a long fly out. I will try to dig it up.
Point being, nobody knows how to Pitch. They can throw. They might even throw 100 and let the beat reporters get their jollies on an April afternoon – but can they pitch?
