Interesting here….
As Sam Dykstra points out, if Cuomo said “New York Chiefs” he may have been misspeaking all around. I checked the Syracuse twitter feed and they have not posted anything.
I have searched the NY website press release and my browser isn’t finding Mets Chiefs or Syracuse. I’m too lazy to read the entire thing and definitely too lazy to watch the video of the speech. Perhaps one of the 73 guys over at the Amazing Apple Insiderized Mets Blog Report can do it. Anyway…
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo causing a bit of a kerfluffle here in the MiLB office. At his State of the State, he announced that the “Triple-A New York Chiefs will soon be the Triple-A New York Mets playing in Syracuse.” pic.twitter.com/IOREfIEtP6

The real story: The *Syracuse Chiefs* have been purchased by the Mets and will become a Mets affiliate in 2019, which we all knew. That’s likely to what he was referring, rather than a public announcement of a full rebrand. (And misnaming the team in the first place.)

Or or or is this even more updated report from 5:16pm the real story? Maybe they WILL change their name…but to what?
