ESPN today announced that its Sunday from the Seats series, a production initiative in which ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball presented by Taco Bell commentator team calls the night’s marquee game from a unique location inside the ballpark, will return for three exclusive Sunday Night Baseball telecasts this season. Buster Olneywill generally provide reports from the field.
“The Sunday from the Seats locations and being surrounded by fans give our commentators the chance to experience the game and deliver it to the viewer in a different way than being in the traditional booth,” said ESPN MLB senior coordinating producer, Phil Orlins. “The chance of a ball being hit to their section or dealing with weather and other unknowns gives these telecasts an even more authentic stadium feel.”
The special series will make its 2018 season debut May 27, on this weekend’s edition of Sunday Night Baseball from historic Wrigley Field. Play-by-play voice Matt Vasgersian and analysts Alex Rodriguez and Jessica Mendoza will call the action amongst the Chicago Cubs faithful from the right field bleachers as the Cubs and Kris Bryant host the San Francisco Giants and Andrew McCutchen at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. The trio will also lead the fans in singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game during the seventh inning stretch.

The final Sunday from the Seats of 2018 will occur on June 10 from Citi Field in Queens, New York, as the New York Mets – led by rookie manager Mickey Callaway – take on the New York Yankees and Aaron Judge. The Sunday Night Baseball team will be seated with the fans in the promenade seats behind home plate to call the iconic subway series matchup at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
