Mets Police Morning Laziness: Mismanagement all around

Hey Mickey.  Stop trying to outsmart the game because IT AIN’T WORKING.  Let your starters go deeper.  Stop batting the pitcher 8th (there’s a reason people did it the other way the first 115 seasons).  Why are you playing Plawecki at first today. Stop.

“We have to play the game the right way,” Callaway said after the Mets lost for the ninth time in 12 games. “You can’t miss the cutoff men. You have to take care of the baseball and throw it to the bag. We have to run the bases the right way and not walk leadoff batters. We are not snakebitten. We have to play the game the right way.”  (Via NY Post)

We have to play the game the right way.  Stop playing people out of position.  Stop trying to get 9-12 outs from the bullpen every night.  Stop batting the pitcher 8th.

The 4th place Mets are SIX games back and one game under .500.

The Mets are going to hand another generation of kids to the Yankees.  Jeff needs to be bold here and make a move.  This manager is in over his head, and it is increasingly evident to many, not just me, and I wasn’t even in the Mickey Mafia when it was cool.

Meanwhile, the vibe seems to be that the Mets are going to rush Cespedes back.  Panic Citi.

Then there’s insanity that the Mets don’t want to pitch Syndergaard on Wednesday because then he will miss the Yankees.  Did you know games against the Yankees count double in the standings?  Guys, a win is a win, leave the egos home.

Today, Plawecki starts at 1B because reasons.

And the game is on Fox.  Joe Davis and John Smoltz have the call.  At 7:15.

Finally, here’s a question for Jeff, Sandy and Mickey.  If we had to pick one person in the organization whose job it was to make sure the team played well, doesn’t make mistakes, and to fix the pitching, who would you say that is?
