Taking a Look at the Mets Independence Day Collection

It looks like things have finally calmed down in Mets-land, off days tend to do that. And, as is always the case the week before a major holiday, MLB is sending me emails reminding us to buy Independence Day caps and uniforms, because of “freedom”, which does sound weird, but makes more sense then the “loyalty” tagline for the Mother’s and Father’s Day caps.

For the Mets, they will be wearing the commemorative gear from July 2nd until July 4th (even though I still don’t consider Independence Day to be a weekend, but I’m Canadian, so what do I know…), which includes this cap:

As well as this jersey, which is similar to the one worn in years past:

Overall, this is the least odious of the holiday collection, with the jersey slightly edging out the cap in my eyes (but both look somewhat nice).

Also, it’s nice that the proceeds are going towards a good cause, so it’s hard to complain too much about this.
