The Mets made a trade!
We’ve acquired minor league infielder William Toffey, RHP Bobby Wahl and international bonus pool money from Oakland in exchange for RHP Jeurys Familia. #Mets

Well I’m not an expert on minor leaguers so let’s see what the media says…
Mets trade away one of the best relievers in team history, the return is questionable, and not one of the three assistant GMs addresses it? That lack of accountability is the clearest sign yet that the Mets’ baseball ops is now being run by new GM Jeff Wilpon.

This brazen lack of accountability tells me that the folks running the New York Mets think that you, the fans, are dumb enough to accept this nonsense. It’s quite insulting.

Well that’s just twitter. What does ESPN say?
Trading Jeurys Familia for two fringe-at-best prospects is not how any team, regardless of payroll level, should operate in this environment. For a franchise that operates in the largest market in the league to do this — and do so 10 days before the trade deadline rather than waiting for someone to offer a legitimate return — is embarrassing for the Mets and for Major League Baseball as a whole.
Hmmm maybe Mickey Hodges can make us feel better!

SLACKISH REACTION: I dunno. I hung out with friends. Nobody in social seems to care about the result of the game because of the various circuses… we’re halfway down the page here at Mets Police and I didn’t even mention Cespedes yet.
Why the hell do most boxscores NOT include time of game? The one that actually does is MLB.com. Yesterday was 3:01
Tonight’s game is at 8pm so the 14% of the US Population that lives in Pacific can enjoy the game between two New York teams.
Let’s check in on the stats. It is July 22nd. Dom Smith has one RBI. Todd Block Frazier has an OPS of .685 and helping the Mets grind it out to a no doubt last place not a virtual tie.
CESPEDES: dudes if he needs surgery and 8-10 months rehab and that timeline takes us to the end of next March, he should have the surgery today. Why would he play Friday night? Did he find out about the surgery in the middle of the game?
NOT LINKING: The newspaper wants you to know that it’s the 25th anniversary of the bleach thing. That’s offseason filler stuff Mr. Newspaper. Too much going on today for that.
The boycotters were trying to make fun of some of my old tweets yesterday. Fellas, when you’ve staked out the ground where you are making fun of me for being too POSITIVE you really have slim pickings.
One would hope this is a joke.
Today might be the darkest day in #Mets history.
