Saw a teaser for Blue Friday, which is the Mets’ name for their day after Thanksgiving sale, and as much as I love the current uniform set and want it to stay, I do miss the annual jersey tweaks we had for a lot of the decade.
You may recall at one point the Mets jerseys looked terrible because of the drop shadow….
Then 2012 came along! (Well, November 2011 did anyway)
Look at the beautiful uniforms. No dropshadow. Pinstripes were back even if my old iPhone’s resolution didn’t pick them up. I went right downstairs and spent $230 on an authentic.
The 2013 season had the All Star Game, and although we didn’t know who the All Stars would be – hey the premise of this post is falling apart quickly – we did get to buy more jerseys!
But for Blue Friday that year…the long awaited return of blue jerseys!
Thanksgiving of 2013 brought us 2014’s camo. I know people didn’t like these but I do.
2014’s Blue Friday brought us new caps. to buy….
2016’s innovation was the 1986 throwbacks. I don’t think they were available for Blue Friday though.
And from there forward it has been pretty quiet. Cap tweaks and patches…
This year, seems all quiet on the Metstern front.
I love the current uniform set, but I’d still be down for a once a week quirk. I like what the Cardinals are doing with their powder blues. If the Mets brought back camo Monday or black on Friday or did something entirely new ONCE A WEEK I would find it interesting. And probably would buy it, although the price inflation of recent years has dropped my jersey buying from like one a month to near zero. I actually can’t remember the last time I purchased one, and I rarely wear them now (because I hate baseball and don’t attend games).
Oh….and after I typed that….I remembered I never got a Murph Cubs jersey, and I never did get a Murph Nats jersey. Both those situations have now changed. There’s a pretty good 30% off sale on Friday,
we’ll see what’s available then, but right now today there’s a good 25% off sale that applied to both my purchases. I used my blog money, that’s why I put ads in front of you.
