I know I am biased…but the Mets lack a first baseman, and Lyin’ Todd Frazier isn’t that good. And lies to umpires. Sad.
What say you about bringing Murph back where he belongs, now that Murph-hater Sandy is gone.
I know, I know, he’s a Net Negative. And some of you think Peter Alonso is The Next Big Thing…and maybe he is….but don’t tell me Murph getting ABs at 1B and 3B doesn’t make this team better.
Others of you may be thinking that Jeff McNeil issuing to hit .429 next season…and maybe he is.
In 1986, on any given day, the following players were not starting: Teufel, Elster, Hojo, future MVP Kevin Mitchell, Lee Mazzilli, Danny Heep and Ed Hearn. That’s a 1B away from being an actual legitimate major league lineup, albeit with some so-so OF defense.
The point Is imagine if the Mets had ACTUAL MAJOR LEAGUERS with like LEGIT SUBS and stuff. Wouldn’t that be amazing. Like if your bench included Lyin’ Todd and McNeil and an actual legit OFer.
Last year, in half a season, Murph hit .299 with 12 HRs and 48 RBI. On Planet Weirdo where WAR is a thing, that’s somehow a -0.9, The Virus was -1.0. You mean to tell me The Virus was almost as good as Murph last year? Please. Who makes these decisions, Gary Cohen?
Unfortunately Murph is not repped by CAA…but he is repped by ACES, so maybe notable ACES client Assistant To the General Manager D-Wright Schrute can get in Wags’ ear.
