The Mets didn’t send me a Gregor Blanco press release so I wrote my own but this time wasn’t as nice

The Mets who did want me to know about Rajai Davis, but didn’t want me to know about the Holiday Party or Wilson Ramons, did not send me a press release for Gregor Blanco.  Schtick aside, I believe there are two email distribution lists, and I believe that depending on who is covering (usually for a week at a time) sometimes the person I call “Intern #5” uses the list that the bloggers are not on.  That being said, I like schtick and I am actually kinda pissy about it.

So I shall rewrite the Rajai Davis press release.

METS SIGN OF GREGOR BLANCOTO A MINOR LEAGUE CONTRACT

FLUSHING, N.Y., December 21, 2018 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has signed outfielder Gregor Bloanco to a minor league contract and invited him to major league spring training

Blanco has played in parts of ten seasons with the Braves, Royals, Giants and Diamonbacks with me having no idea what position he played unless the Mets mentioned in a tweet because they sure as hell didn’t mention it to me in a press release.

The right-handed hitter batted .217 with two home runs in 2018 so he is sure to be a difference maker.  .217 with two home runs at Citi Field…that looks to be about .000 with no home runs.  You might as well have signed me, and I could have picked up a press release about me while I was in the office.

Furthermore, Wags has you all conned.  This team has no first baseman, and your complete OF depth right now is Conforto and Nimmo, fine, then Lagares who should be a 5th OFer on a real team, and now Rajai Davis and Gregor Blanco.

Interestingly Mr. Blanco is repped by Octagon and not CAA.  So at least there is that.

Anyway, some Tuesday in July when you’re watching the Mets and you see DUE UP:  Smith, Davis, Blanco remember that Wags isn’t serious and he’s conning Jeff.

Update:  I just noticed that the headline somehow made the guy’s name “Blancato” lol.  I’m leaving it there because it somehow makes this funnier.   Get ready for a summer of Blancato jokes.
