Hey remember all that news about renovating the stadium and stuff…
PORT ST. LUCIE — The New York Mets are on the verge of blowing up their stadium-renovation deal with St. Lucie County and beginning to look for a new spring training home, according to a source with intimate knowledge of the project.
At the center of the newly contentious talks is the cost of renovating 31-year-old First Data Field. The Mets and the county, which owns the stadium, agreed in 2016 on a $55 million renovation in exchange for the team keeping spring training here for 25 years. (Via TC Palm)
Again, and it will never happen, I want the Mets to train in Arizona so we can do Arizona road trips and hit tons of games within a 20 mile radius.
As for this story, I imagine it’s a lot of nothing and posturing. I don’t foresee the Mets moving, but I think I was wrong about one thing once…so it’s possible I am wrong again.
Follow TC Palm this spring, its a good resource for finding stuff the NY sources won’t.
