Baseball used to be fun man. Like lots of fun.
So the quick background on that was that Whitey Herzog’s Cardinals accused Howard Johnson of corking his bat. Was he corking? Who cares. It was ENTERTAINING as hell.
‘He might hit home runs, but he`s not Babe Ruth,” St. Louis manager Whitey Herzog said of HoJo. ”He`s using a corked bat, and we proved it.”
Trouble is, the proof Herzog claims to have is X-rays of one of Johnson`s bats reportedly pirated out of the Mets` locker room when they were playing St. Louis in late July.
”The X-ray showed something inside,” a Cardinals coach said. ”You could see it plain as day. It`s a line about 5 inches long, as big as your finger.” (Via Chicago Tribune)
Everything about baseball was better then. Vince Coleman, the good baseball player from the Cardinals not the terrible one from the Mets, would get on base. Would he steal? Would he not? He’s gonna steal man. Watch ou…..oh shoot there he goes. SAFE. F*ck now he’s on second. Is he gonna steal third?
This was a rivalry. We hated them, they hated us. The little shuffle against the Rockies made me miss this the other day. But that was noting. Millenials, watch this…

I know I am going back 30 years and being all Old Man, but I’m telling you the game was just better. This 2019 version of baseball with a lot of nothing punctuating by 30 seconds of getting off on Pete Alonso….its just not good. Back me up Old Timers. The Millennials do not know what they are missing. Oh wait Millennials….more fight!!!!!
